As from Friday 14th December 2007 no residential property can be marketed without the Seller having applied for a Home Information Pack. Previously, the requirement only affected properties comprising three bedrooms or more.

The Government has introduced the scheme in the face of strong criticism from industry specialists which they have chosen to disregard and ignore. Whilst our residential property team at Adams & Remers are also highly critical of any benefit Home Information Packs might bring to the market we have developed a cost effective and efficient system for producing Home Information Packs in-house. The current regulations provide that as soon as a Home Information Pack has been applied for Seller’s can go ahead and market their property with agents. In due course, the Government intends to introduce regulations requiring that the pack itself should be produced before marketing can commence. At that stage speed will be of the essence in producing packs and we are confident our systems will be able to match Seller’s expectations in that respect.
