Powers of Attorney

The purpose of an Enduring or Lasting Power of Attorney is to enable individuals, whilst they are still mentally capable, to decide who they would like to deal with their affairs in the event that they are no longer able to do so for themselves.

When a person becomes mentally incapable of dealing with their own financial affairs, he or she cannot delegate that responsibility to someone else. Unless provision has already been made in the form of an Enduring or Lasting Power of Attorney it may be necessary to apply to the Court of Protection for the appointment of a Deputy. We can advise and assist you in this complex area. We also have the expertise necessary to advise Attorneys and Deputies on the possible tax planning opportunities available and, where relevant, assist with the Court application.
