Adams & Remers Solicitors

Environmental Issues

We have expertise in environmental issues, including advising on waste management and potential liability for pollution and contamination under Part II of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and the Water Resources Act 1991 and other laws.

Our Commercial Property Department can provide expert advice to landowners and developers on what is required in order to comply with environmental laws and how best to minimise their potential liability in respect of waste, hazardous substances or contaminated land or ground water.

When acting on the acquisition, disposal or letting of contaminated or potentially contaminated land, we endeavour to ensure that both parties fully appreciate the environmental risks involved and that the contractual documentation is carefully drafted so as properly to allocate the risk between the parties.

We provide advice on a number of related areas including Sites of Special Scientific Interest, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, compliance issues (including control of asbestos), third party rights of access and occupier’s liability.

Our Dispute Resolution Department has expertise in assisting clients in applying for waste disposal and waste management licences. It also acts for local authorities in prosecuting those who commit criminal offences under various environmental laws.
